Dental Emergency? Arkansas Family Dental Offers Same Day, Emergency Services

From denture and partial repairs to root canals and fillings, many emergency same day dental services are provided at Arkansas Family Dental to make sure no member of your family has to go through the pain of waiting for help.

Dental emergencies can happen at any time, often after your dentist’s office has closed. A broken tooth, lost filling, or any accident that involves an injury to your mouth or teeth causes pain that should not be ignored outside of regular business hours or over the weekend. Emergency same day dental services are the answer to many dental dilemmas.

When a person is involved in an accident or has a dental emergency, first: evaluate any visible injuries they may have and assess the damage. If it is determined they need to see a dentist or orthodontist immediately, call your dentist’s office and explain the situation as well as all noticeable injuries. If you’re calling after hours, the office should provide the emergency phone number in their outgoing message. Keep the person calm and relaxed and follow the instructions provided by your dentist. Once your appointment has been set, make your way to the dentist’s office and be prepared to again explain what happened as well as any relevant medical history you are aware of and drug allergies.

Reasons for Emergency Same Day Dental Services

A few reasons emergency same day dental services may be needed include:

  • broken teeth
  • lost filling
  • accident involving tooth loss
  • broken retainer or other dental appliances
  • infections involving the teeth or gums
  • damaged crowns, partials, or dentures

Dental emergencies can range from moderate to major when it comes to pain and the extent of the injury. Emergencies that result in damage to the teeth, gums and tongue should not be put off unless absolutely necessary.

Effects of Avoiding Seeking Emergency Treatment

Letting dental injuries go without seeking treatment can cause major problems that can become more painful over time. Dental injuries can affect how well a person eats as well as their speech. Injuries that affect the alignment of the teeth, or cause them to fall out, can damage other teeth in close proximity.

Treating tooth or mouth injuries quickly will prevent other teeth from shifting or moving in ways they shouldn’t. This can prevent the need for braces and retainers to bring the teeth back in line with one another. Emergency treatment can also prevent the spread of possible infection or risk of other health problems.
